OUR SERVICES
Parent Survey Visit
During your first visit with Healthy Families, you'll meet with a resource specialist so we can learn a little about you, your family, and what you think about parenting. The worker will describe what services we can offer to you and will answer any questions you have. New families also receive a "Welcoming Baby" gift with goodies for you and the baby, as well as some useful info packets on taking care of infants.
Home Visits
Our family support workers schedule ongoing home visits with your family. How often these visits happen depends on you, the age of your child(ren), and a few other factors. During these visits, we will share important health, safety, and developmental info as your baby grows. Your worker will model fun activities that you can do with your baby to encourage development, bonding, and language skills. The worker is also around to help you achieve goals such as returning to school, getting a job, or finding daycare. All home visits are customized to suit your family.
Parent Education & Support Groups
These groups are an opportunity for your and your child(ren) to learn, connect, and have fun with other families. Groups are open to anyone who is interested and would benefit from the sessions. Some topics we've covered in groups include fixing nutritious meals on a budget, disciplining with love and logic, baby massage, and even yoga! Suggestions for group topics are always welcome.
Lactation Counseling
This past month, Mandy Duley and Brittany Silvestri, supervisors for Page County and Shenandoah County Healthy Families received their license to be Certified Lactation Counselors. Lactation counselors support families by answering questions about breastfeeding, teaching how to properly breastfeed, and aid in any problems that may arise with breastfeeding.
